  • Ultraviolet Light in Arson Detection Evidence of accelerants is almost always invisible to the naked eye after they have been absorbed in a fire however UV light can assist in rapidly locating accelerant residues and in locating the point of origin of a fire. Furthermore, many ingredients of explosives (including anfo, nitrates, sulfur, fuel oil, paraffins, and P.E.T.N.) fluoresce.
