Introduction

This is an avenue whereby we will offer spare new, or display, or demo equipment for sale. Or as an aid our customers to sell their telescopes for a commission, from trade in, or from outright purchases. Our used or consigned accessories are listed on our Accessories and Equipment page.

Products with titles listed in italics are available only to existing customers of Company Seven, i.e. those who have previously purchased a telescope or mount from us, or to educational non-profit organizations where the telescope may provide to the public good service. This is one of the discriminatory programs which we maintain in order to express our appreciation to our clientele, and keep the instruments away from resellers or scalpers who bring no real value to a transaction.

Item 1: Used Takahashi FS-128 Doublet Apochromat Optical Tube Assembly

Serial No. 99067. f/8.13 with a 1,040mm Focal Length. White tube with Takahashi green painted front cell and rear cell/focuser. Focuser with reducers down to 1.25 inch, thread on Dewshield.
Telescope was sold new in 1999 by OGS for use as the Photo-Guide the Biosphere 2 Observatory in Arizona. The telescope was used atop the OGS 24 inch Ritchey-Chrétien telescope as a photo-guide telescope from the Fall of 1999 to late 2003, then moth-balled. In 2007 the entire facility was acquired by Company Seven. In June 2008 telescope was serviced and deemed not needed for our future uses by Company Seven.

Economical black finished cast aluminum mounting rings from China, suitable for installing the telescope onto a mount for light duty applications.


Condition: At Company Seven the telescope was serviced, the lens cleaned and tested for proper function, and collimated in preparation for consigned sale. Has passed C-7 acceptance testing and history check. The optical tube and lens shade look clean and in good condition with no obvious marring or chips. The telescope objective lens front surface has some minor spots that are commensurate with some use, but it has been in a low humidity environment and is free of fungus or mildew. The optics, and cell and focuser mechanics perform as new. Provided with one year warranty from Company Seven against defects of workmanship or materials.

Item 2: Used Astro-Physics 130mm f6 "EDF" Telescope Optical Tube Assembly

Serial No. SN SF130348, f/8 with a 1,040mm Focal Length. Zeiss off white tube assembly. Telescope delivered new 8 June 2002 from Company Seven.
Tube assembly upgraded with complete new greaseless 2.7 inch Focuser (P/N 27FTMU, $550)
and with Feather Touch^® option. Also includes AP hard shell foam lined carrying case.

Astro-Physics Maxbright 2 inch Diagonal Mirror ($290), AP 5.5" mounting rings ($175),
AP 8x50 Finder with Quick Release Bracket ($175).


Condition: Telescope optics and mechanics appear and function as new. Case appears as new.

Item 3: New Display Model Astro-Physics 13cm f8 EDT Telescope

Serial No. SF58298. The first AP OTA produced with the Zeiss off white painted tube assembly with 2.7 inch focuser, padded hard shell carrying case.
Originally accepted new 10 May 1994 for static display at Company Seven.

Condition: Telescope optics and mechanics new (spare new inventory registered to C7), in original packing.

Item 4: Consigned Astro-Physics Model 1200 QMD German Equatorial Mount

Serial No. 4 sold new by Company Seven in September 1993. Provided with Handheld "QMD" quartz micro-drive control tracking system (with auto guider port). One of the very first production Astro-Physics 1200 series mounts suitable to manage payloads up to the Celestron 14. A solid tracking platform with built in optical encoders to feed data on orientation to either an optional digital setting circle display or a personal computer.


And just to head off any questions, no it is not cost effective to convert this 1200 QMD mount to the current 1200 GTO configuration.

Serial No. 942870. Carbon Fiber optical tube assembly made in 2003, with Celestron CGE/Losmandy D series dovetail plate, 7x 50 Pole Finder, 26mm Plossl, 1.25" Visual Accessory Back.
Telescope had been on static display at Company Seven and in the Summer 2008 was loaned to a non-profit organization for a photo-shoot of an observatory dedication.

Item 6: Used Celestron C-14 XLT Telescope

Serial No. 965257. Gray aluminum optical tube assembly with Celestron CGE series dovetail plate.
Telescope was traded in when new to Company Seven then initially failed our acceptance tests and optics were replaced with new XLT optics.

Condition: Telescope functions as new. Had a minor scrape on left side of rear cell, this has been touched up with factory black spray paint. Optics have been replaced after four return visits to the factory to 'get this right' as we expect. Since most recent return this OTA has been collimated and passed C-7 acceptance testing with the conclusion that this is among the better C-14 optics test results in memory. Otherwise performs and appears like new - not a speck on the Corrector, focus is smooth, etc.

Item 7: New Repaired Celestron C-14 'FASTAR' Telescope

Serial No. 931699. Black aluminum 'FASTAR" optical tube assembly, with Celestron CGE series dovetail plate, 7x 50 Pole Finder, 26mm Plossl, 1.25" Visual Accessory Back.
Telescope was new, but damaged in collapse of a Celestron CGE tripod while on static display. Telescope black tube barrel and all optics will be replaced with new matched optics.

Condition: Telescope will appear and function as new when readied. Optics will have passed C-7 testing.

Item 8: New Display Model JMI RB-66 6" Reverse Binocular Telescope

No serial number. White twin barrel optical tube assembly with Red Dot Sight, two 1.25" Focusers, two 20mm Plossl eyepieces, two 1.25" prism diagonals.

JMI RB-66 Carrying Case, lightweight with Roller Wheels.

Condition: Telescope has been on static display at Company Seven. It appears and functions as new. Sealed lead acid rechargeable battery (for motors, etc.) will be replaced with a new battery.

Item 9: New Display Model Orion Argonaut™ 6" Maksutov-Newtonian Telescope with Vixen GPDX German Mount

No serial number. Black barrel optical tube assembly with 2" Focuser and 40mm Finder, hinged Mounting Rings. Telescope made in Russia when Orion used to distribute these in the USA, an Company Seven sold them too.


New optional items included:

Vixen GP-DX German Equatorial Mount with dual axis manual controls (motors optional), Model HAL110 Aluminum Field Tripod, one 8.2 lb / 3.7 kg Counterweight, GP/GPDX 6x 20mm Pole Finder with Illuminator, PN AMPS3593 (our last selling base price was $1,299)

Condition: telescope has been on static display at Company Seven's showroom since 2001. System appears and functions as new. Optics are a very good example of this desirable type of telescope. We may or may not be able to find the original packing boxes, but nonetheless shipping could be arranged.

Classes of equipment for sale here:
• Demo equipment is new equipment shown at a meeting, or event. This will operate as new, and may show a very minor cosmetic mark from handling (usually not). These carry new product warranties.
  
  
• Display equipment is new equipment that was on static display at our showroom but has not been handled by visitors. These will operate as new, and will not show any cosmetic mark from handling. These carry new product warranties
  
  
• Evaluation equipment is new equipment evaluated in a nondestructive manner by Company Seven in test facilities. These will operate as new, carry new product warranties, and may or may not show minor cosmetic signs of handling. These carry new product warranties.
  
  
• Used equipment may be evaluation equipment that has been disassembled and restored to appear as new, or it may be consigned or used equipment purchased or traded in at Company Seven. Its condition will generally be very good to like new, and these instruments have been comprehensively evaluated by Company Seven for proper operation and optical performance, stolen property checks have been performed where possible, and each are accompanied by Company Seven warranties (and possibly with a manufacturer warranty too).
