Look What's Inside a Leica Binocular!

Through Leica's special "body seal" technique and dry nitrogen filling, these binoculars are completely waterproof and dust proof; impervious to internal fogging or fungus. The safety of all optical elements and mechanical components from environmental influences is assured with shock resistive mountings, and a true sealed internal focusing which results in being steam-proof, with a waterproof rating to a depth of 5 meters (16.4 feet).

Optimal fingertip control of focus and diopter adjustments via unique and ingenious combination/multi-functional central drive system (patented) for control of focus and diopter adjustment. This adjustment can be clearly seen on a calibrated scale through a window atop the central drive knob; the scale thereby facilitates changes of diopter settings for several users if so desired.

The optical design of the objectives, prisms, and eyepieces are optimized to provide a maximum possible, highly corrected wide field of view whether or not the observer employees eyeglasses or not.

Superior ocular (eyepiece) optical and mechanical design features good eye relief. This eases sharing of a binocular between partners and the use of the binocular either with or without prescription spectacles, or with conventional sunglasses (including polarized models).

With easy to use rubber padded, retractable (snap in or out) eyecups, there is no need to bother with traditional rubber eyecups and their associated wear and tear, or the associated hazards of smearing the eyepiece lenses while folding a hood down with ones finger. With the eyecup pulled out and snapped into place it acts to shield the eye from lateral distraction, and it also provides solid support to the viewer. With the touch of a finger, eyeglass wearers can push the eyecup down and place the eyepiece directly against their eyeglass.

Extreme close up focusing: as close as 3.25m (10.7 feet) with the Leica Trinovid 8x32 BA, and 4.60m (15 feet) with the Leica Trinovid 10x42 BA. And the focus control mechanism gearing allows rapid shifts from near focus to infinity with less than one rotation.

Shock resistive construction features include one piece metal construction covered by a state of the art durable and UV resistant polyurethane.

Critical alignment of the mechanical and optical axes assures comfortable viewing without eyestrain or fatigue. Even prolonged observation will not cause eyestrain, fatigue, or headaches, since both images are equally magnified and merge perfectly.

Comfortable handling and extraordinarily compact storage through classic innovative Leica design.

Incredible warranty support, and if ever necessary an extensive parts availability (for many years to come) and a world wide organizational service support - backed by a company with a more than 100 year old tradition of excellence.
