Gitzo Rationnelle Low Profile HeadsThe two Gitzo Rationnelle Low Profile Heads are engineered to provide exceptionally smooth rotation, positive locking, and rapid mounting or removal of film or visual system. These are particularly well suited for larger, heavier loads. The larger platform accommodates the larger "footprint" common to medium format and view cameras. The distance from the top of the tripod to the camera platform is reduced to ensure that the center of gravity of the camera or other load is maintained over the middle of the tripod.

The G1270 and the G1570 Heads are furnished with two fixing screws; this makes them especially suitable for monorail devices and cameras. Each is supplied with a 1/4" (K) and with 3/8" (C) camera mounting screw. The graduated base, with independent locking facilities permits perfect panoramic photography. The design of the panoramic base permits these heads to be used for table top or near ground level work, even without the use of a tripod.
The Model G1270 Head and the Model G1570 Head appear similar but, the G1570 has a larger platform and load bearing design differences. The G1570 head is suitable for a 4x5 inch or 5x7 in. or 8x10 in. format view cameras, 4 x 5 in. Field camera, 6x6cm format camera with a 300mm lens, or 6x7cm camera with 300mm lens, or 35mm camera with a normal, fisheye, wide angle, or 600mm or shorter focal length ultra telephoto lens, or a binocular, or spotting telescope.

The lateral (side to side) movement capability of the Rationnelle heads depicted in the illustration of the Gitzo Rationnelle
Low Profile Head Model G1270 (right) in combination with the Vertical and Rotation tilts will permit a
photographer to direct the camera at virtually any angle without compromising stability. We note this motion may not be
desireable when using a spotting telescope or binocular.
Optional dovetail Quick Release Adaptors of up to 4" length are available
for use with these heads. The adaptors have either one or two fixing points (using the 1/4" or 3/8" Fixing Screws) and they
can accommodate short telescopes or ultra telephoto lenses. The Quick Release Plate can be attached to a camera, binocular
tripod adapter, or spotting telescope with no tools. An index pin is provided on the Quick Release Plate platform to help
maintain the orientation of the attached accessory i.e. reduce any left to right movement of the item as it is handled or
directed onto a target. Once attached, the adapter can be left in place. If so desired, additional adapters may be purchased
to permit the quick interchange of numerous items.
