Horsehead and Flame Nebula Complex
Ray Gralak used an ST-8E and CFW8 to capture this LRGB image of
the Flame and Horsehead Nebula complex. Individual images were taken through
H-alpha,
red, green and blue filters and combined to make the final color image. The RGB
images
were 45 minutes each (3 exposures of 15 minutes, unbinned, for each color). The
Luminance,
or grayscale layer is a total of 4 hours of exposure taken through a 10nm H-alpha
filter (2 exposures
of 2 hours each taken on different nights). All images were self-guided by an
ST-8E camera
equipped with a CFW8 color filter wheel through a 4.1" AstroPhysics Traveler at
f/4.5.
